The exposed piping under your kitchen and bathrooms basins is particularly vulnerable to freezing. When the temperatures drop, open the cabinets to allow warm air to flow through that area. You may place a space heater provided to that area as well should you be particularly concerned. Letting the faucet slowing drip can even prevent bursting. Moving drinking water requires a lower temperature to freeze than water that is standing in a pipe. There should be ample insulation on your walls and ceilings to prevent frozen tubings. Insulation allows your home to be warmer in the winter months and cooler in the summer months. With proper insulation, you will not only secure your pipes, you will save funds on your energy bills as well.
